Meet Holly or "Hollander" Paper Beater
| Did you know the "Hollander" or beater dates back to 1680! It was invented in the Netherlands. This amazing machine we use to break down recycled office paper, to make a perfect paper pulp. We then add seeds and handmake our see paper. We are now experimenting with cotton rag from fast fashion throw away t-shorts, and hemp off cuts. |
| Holly is our "little critter" Hollander beater and was made by the master craftsman from New Zealand Mark Lander. Through emails and his you tube channels we learnt how to use it. Of course everything seems easier than you think, so a call to Paper makers Victoria Gail, and she allowed me to come and see her Hollander beater in action. Thanks Gail! We love creating new paper ideas and the Hollander is great for not only creating a fine pulp, also for mixing colours. |
