Plantable Christmas Cards Featuring Australian Birds
They’ll expect a Christmas card. They won’t expect flowers.
This Christmas, we’ve teamed up with Australian artist Pawcasso to create a range of plantable Christmas cards featuring Australian birds. Send a thoughtful message now, and give your friends and family something to grow after the festive season.
Each card is handmade from recycled paper and embedded with seeds at our Werribee papermill in Victoria. It’s a Christmas greeting with a second life in the garden.
What makes a Christmas card plantable?
Our seed-paper Christmas cards have seeds embedded in the paper itself. Once the festive season is over, the recipient can plant the paper and care for the seeds as they grow. There’s no need to remove the seeds from the card.
Choose from Swan River Daisy or our garden flower mix. When choosing a card, check the seed option in the product details so you know what you’re sending.
Australian bird Christmas card designs
From familiar garden visitors to colourful Australian favourites, this range celebrates our beautiful birdlife.
The birds that inspired the range include:
- Magpie
- Black Cockatoo
- Kookaburra
- Crimson Rosella
- Galah
- White Cockatoo
- Rainbow Lorikeet
- Black Swan
- Gouldian Finch
- Eastern Rosella
Handmade in Victoria from recycled paper
Each greeting card measures 135 mm high by 80 mm wide when folded and comes with a 100% recycled kraft brown envelope. There’s room for your Christmas wishes inside, with a little growing surprise in the paper itself.
Planting your seed-paper Christmas card
Keep the card to enjoy over Christmas, then follow the planting instructions supplied with your seed-paper card. The best planting time will depend on the seed variety and your local growing conditions, rather than a particular date on the calendar.
Send a Christmas greeting that grows
Whether you’re writing to a bird lover, a keen gardener or someone who enjoys a thoughtful surprise, these handmade cards offer more than a festive message.
During November 2026, these Christmas cards have free shipping within Australia.
